The Disaster Recovery Group of Duplin County (DRGDC) in collaboration with Volunteer NC, and Church World Services (RDU) will be presenting a Virtual Volunteer Expo (VVE), Thursday, February 11, 2020, at 6:00 PM. The purpose of the VVE is to provide an opportunity for high school and college students, community stakeholders, company employees, and others interested in volunteering to connect with organizations virtually and to promote meaningful opportunities for volunteer service while sustaining civic engagement in a virtual environment.
Engagement and volunteer opportunities will be presented by Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Crisis Cleanup, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Baptist on Mission/Charity Rebuild, Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, and Episcopal Farmworker Ministry. You will then have opportunities to delve deeper into the organization or opportunity that resonates most with you in break-out rooms.
We seek to make this an inclusive event to attract a diverse group of volunteers. The VVE will be advertised using all major media outlets including, radio, television, newspaper, and social media. The VVE will also provide simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish to guarantee language access and to welcome potential volunteers that might not speak English. Participants will have a chance to win door prizes for completing a brief survey at the end of the event.
