About Black Artist Forward
Black Artist Forward is a nonprofit rooted in one mission: making sure Black artists don’t just create… they thrive. We connect artists to opportunities, resources, and community support that move their work forward in real, tangible ways.
The Role
We’re looking for a curious, organized, and resourceful intern who enjoys finding information, connecting dots, and helping creative ecosystems run smoothly behind the scenes.
This isn’t busywork. This is the engine room.
You’ll help us maintain the systems that artists rely on, from job boards and grant listings to outreach and marketing support, while learning how a growing arts nonprofit actually operates day-to-day.
What You’ll Do
Research and track artist opportunities (jobs, grants, residencies, and calls for art)
Maintain and update BAF’s opportunity listings and website (Wix)
Support marketing efforts by scheduling and organizing content (Buffer)
Assist with community engagement and artist outreach
Enter, organize, and analyze data using Google Sheets and Forms
Support fundraising and donor tracking efforts (Givebutter)
Collaborate with the team using Asana (we’ll train you)
Assist with event setup/breakdown and on-site support (if local)
Help document meetings, organize notes, and keep projects moving
Bring ideas to the table (we value fresh perspective here!)

Ages 16+ (guardian permission required if under 18)
Someone detail-oriented who actually enjoys organizing information
Comfortable with or willing to learn digital tools and platforms
Interested in arts, culture, nonprofit work, or marketing
Reliable, communicative, and self-directed
Bonus (not required):
Experience with Wix, Canva, Buffer, Givebutter, or social media management
What You’ll Gain
Weekly 1-on-1 mentorship with BAF leadership
Hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, marketing, and artist support
Insight into how grants, partnerships, and programming actually come together
Free access to BAF events
