Image of Galilea in front of flowersI'm Galilea Ruiz-Villagomez and I am a current freshman here at UNCP majoring in Biology with an emphasis in Pre-Physical therapy. I am a CARE Resource Center Ambassador. I have enjoyed volunteering and giving back to my community by emulating my mom since I was young. I spoke with Kamren and Shania during my orientation in the summer about wanting to stay active in community service while enrolled here at UNCP and they talked to me about the care resource center. Working at the care resource center has been amazing. It has allowed me to have a fun job of putting out food products on our shelves, organizing and connecting with other peers. I enjoy organizing the care resource center for students and community members to have a pleasurable experience while here.

I am in the Maynor Honors college here at UNCP and I am also the president of the Women's Club Soccer. Subtle plug, but we are always looking for people willing to play and put their best work forward so contact me if you would be interested! I recently got in contact with the head start program here at Pembroke and have been volunteering every Wednesday. One of my passions is working with children and head start works with low income families to provide schooling for children 3-5 years old. I enjoy interacting with them and they always leave me feeling happier. I enjoy soccer and coaching it as well. Some of my other passions are nutrition and interior design. I hope to continue to volunteer and work with my new community, Pembroke NC!
I'm a first generation college student and I hope to be an inspiration for my family and for others. I am an older sister and I enjoy going home some weekends to spend time with my family. I am grateful for the opportunity to go to this university to get my education. I hope that in years to come I am able to think about my college experience and think about the way I positively impacted my community and the friendships I have made and the way they have impacted me.
