Who We Are

The Office for Regional Initiatives is located off the campus of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke at the Carolina Commerce and Technology Center (COMTech) on Livermore Drive.

Established in 2000, the mission of Office for Regional Initiatives is to foster regional collaborations, enhance business development, and empower communities for quality of life betterment in southeastern North Carolina.

The Office for Regional Initiatives addresses the diverse needs of the region through initiatives to increase resources, establish networks, and provide training.

Office for Regional Initiatives provides outreach services to the citizens, businesses, governments and nonprofit organizations throughout the region. These outreach services are executed in cooperation with organizations to provide management development programs; health care initiatives; customized training; consulting; planning and technical assistance and, conference designing and implementation.

What We Do

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke enhances the economic, intellectual, and social quality of life in southeastern North Carolina through innovative programs, partnerships with organizations, small business assistance, and professional development services.

Created to mirror the University's commitment to the community, the Center coordinates outreach programs that focus on:

  • Research and Economic Development
  • Community Health Improvement
  • Professional and Management Development
  • Rural Education Initiatives
  • Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC)

The Office for Regional Initiative is located at the Carolina Commerce and Technology Center (COMtech), east of Pembroke, North Carolina on Highway 711.
