BSU seeks to accomplish this mission by: Providing a safe space for students and faculty to have conversations about current events and issues concerning the African American community (Open forums for students/faculty) Educating the student body and faculty on African American issues, history, and culture Collaborating with other African American student organizations on the campus of UNCP Advocating for the hiring of African American administration/faculty

The mission of BSU is to generate understanding, unity amongst students and community members, and promote the safety, education, and support of African American students at UNCP. BSU values a safe, diverse, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
