PAID Internships for Summer 2021:  SECU Public Fellows Internship Program

The Office for Community and Civic Engagement is now seeking applications for the 2021 SECU Public Fellows Internship Program.   The purpose of the internship program is to connect undergraduate students with local leadership in order to obtain meaningful on-the-job experience with local agencies or community based organizations to provide a unique learning opportunity that allows the intern to give back to his/her community.  Visit Handshake and apply today!   Deadline has been extended to April 14, but applications will be reviewed immediately.  

Alumni Activist Professional Development Series

During the month of April, we will highlight several UNCP alumni who are working for social change and impacting the lives of others in their professions.  From occupational therapy to social entrepreneurship and university professor, each of the speakers will share how their work contributes to social good.  Participants will be able to ask questions during the Q&A session.  All sessions will take place via zoom.  Click on the links below to find out  more information.

Democracy Never Sleeps—April 12-16 

Join us for a week of events focused on democratic engagement.  Events will include a Voter Registration Training and Living Room Conversation on Peace Building in the US.  Find out more about these opportunities by visiting http://serve.uncp.edu/democracyneversleeps

Living Room Conversations offers a simple, sociable and structured way to practice communicating across differences while building understanding and relationships. Typically, 4-7 people meet in person or by video call for about 90 minutes to listen to and be heard by others.  RSVP here

Young people make up the largest and most diverse group of potential voters in this country, and when we vote, we have the power shape our communities and our future. Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader:  Brave Foundations Mentor Edition

So you think you're smarter than a 5th grader?  Join UNCP's Braves Foundation event by surprising us with what you think being a good mentor is in under 5 words!  Simple, but a very effective task for all of you.  The best reply wins a FREE CCE T-SHIRT!  Record yourself and send the video to Kamren Lewis (kjl022@bravemail.uncp.edu).  After we have received enough videos, we will vote and the winner can stop by Wellons Hall suite G for your prize.  Find out more on UNCP Serve.
