Since our agency is fairly new, we are looking for a talented Social Media and Public Outreach Coordinator to create and maintain a strong online and public presence for our company. Your role would be to help implement online marketing strategies through social media accounts and for public awareness of our company.

Volunteer: Event Planning Internship - Fall 2022

The Event Planning Intern will have the opportunity to oversee all aspects of event planning, specifically the Dogwood Fall Festival. The Event Planning Intern will report to the Executive Director and the appropriate committee chairs (Entertainment, Logistics, Vendors, etc.). The Events Intern will also provide support services as needed in the planning, administration, and operation of all events. Additionally, the Event Intern will communicate regularly with event sponsors. This internship is expected to run August 2022 to early December 2022. Additionally, while this internship is a semester long opportunity, there is opportunity for it to translate into a year long opportunity. If interested, please inquire. 

This internship is a collaborative effort where the intern must work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other parties. It is essential that this position is approached with a “team” mindset. 

The Event Planning Intern is expected to uphold high standards of professionalism and hospitality during all correspondence by phone, email, and in meetings with the public, Board of Directors, and the Executive Director. Work is performed in accordance with the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival policies. Discretion is required when sharing confidential information and other pieces of information with the public. 

Responsibilities

Be available to work the week of the Fall Festival for preparation and during the operational hours of the event. The event will run Friday, October 14 through Sunday, October 16, 2022. Attend planning committee meetings (Meeting TBD).  Help organize and implement activities regarding the event.  Maintain an up to date website and other social media items.  Correspond with vendors on application process and collect required items from vendors (fee, COI, Tax ID, Payment).  Assist the Executive Director and Vendor Chair with vendor/sponsor booth placements and ensure all needs are met (physical space, electricity, etc.) Assist Vendor Chair with vendor check-in.  Interact with sponsors by responding to any comments/questions/concerns.  Assist in creating, proofing, and printing banners/signage.  Be available to assist sponsors, vendors, entertainers, and Vendor Chair at time of event. 

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.  Must be available to work the entire Fall Festival. The event takes place Friday, October 14-Sunday, October 16.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and proficient knowledge of modern day technology (knows how to use desktop computer, landline phone, printer, etc).  Ability to work in-person. Ability to work flexible hours as the event approaches. Ability to work effectively individually as well as collaboratively with others. Ability to be creative within the assigned tasks.  Hospitable, personable, and positive attitude.  Strong organizational skills.  Strong communication skills. 

Preferred college majors: Hospitality and Tourism Management, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Management, or Management

While this internship is unpaid, there are still expectations of interns to be reliable members of the Festival Family during their time with the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival. Robeson County District Attorney’s Office is seeking individuals who possess strong academic credentials, outstanding character and a high degree of motivation for their internship program.  Candidates with an academic focus in political science (pre-law), sociology, or criminal justice are encouraged to apply.  This program offers candidates a unique perspective on the mission and vision of the district attorney’s office and the criminal justice system..  

 

This minimum 16-week experience immerses interns in unique experiences in the court system with an emphasis on prosecution as well as the steps involved in the criminal justice system as it relates to courts.  

 

The intern’s duties include court observation and providing support to the Assistant District Attorneys and Victim/Witness Legal Assistants.  Successful candidates should be able to create and maintain files and documents, data entry, file organization, scheduling, and maintaining supplies. 

 

The program is an unpaid internship, requiring a minimum of five hours per week.  Multiple schedules are available and flexible, when possible.  Requesting one candidate to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-5:00 pm.
