The Office for Community and Civic Engagement (CCE) is seeking 5 volunteers to join our Community Ambassador Team! The Community Ambassador Team will help pilot the Community Ambassador Program, all while connecting with community partners to mobilize change and enhance the community.
The Community Ambassador Program is a peer-led leadership initiative designed to help bridge the gap between UNC Pembroke and CCE's nonprofit community partners by building collaborative relationships. Undergraduate/Graduate students will serve as a liaison between the university and CCE's local nonprofit community partners to strengthen partnership, facilitate resource sharing, initiate service projects, and actively engage in community building strategies to increase capacity and exposure to the nonprofit sector.
To reach this mission, Community Ambassadors will lead volunteer initiatives with local nonprofit organizations that serve Robeson and surrounding counties.
Community Ambassadors commit to:
- One (1) year of serving as a Community Ambassador.
- Identifying service opportunities that add value to the community partner organization.
- Serving as a bridge between on-campus student volunteers and the community partner.
- Recruiting for partner service opportunities by utilizing UNCP Serve and connecting organizations with other on-campus resources.
- Training and support to build partnerships with community partners to provide opportunities for engagement.
Community Ambassadors benefit by:
- Engaging with community partners to create meaningful change in the community and to address social injustice.
- Creating learning opportunities for peers by demonstrating how to engage in their own community.
- Engaging in a leadership opportunity that offers enhancement of professional growth and development.
Community Partners benefit by:
- Gaining an individual dedicated to identifying organizational enhancements.
- Creating lifelong learning in students by demonstrating how to engage in their own communities.
- Building mutual respect between institution and community.
