CELEBRATION and WITNESS OF OUR SACRED LANDS AND WATERS THIS SATURDAY NEAR MAXTON
10:00 AM Saturday, November 16 - Oxendine Elementary School, 5599 Oxendine School Road, Maxton
The celebration will include drumming, additional music, information, speakers, and travel to the nearby site of the massive, harmful, liquid natural gas (LNG) storage facility being constructed in Wakulla for a prayer ceremony. Depending on weather and interest, an optional prayer ceremony will be held at the site entrance. Also, a short Walk with banners and posters may be held prior to the prayer ceremony, depending on the severity of the weather and interest among those who are prepared for the weather. The LNG facility is one of up to 11 existing and possible natural gas projects planned in an 8-mile radius in the heart of indigenous territory in Robeson County, NC and near the predominately African American town of Maxton.
